Good Vibes and Great Surprises: Youth Fountain Lights Up Chain Reaction with Help from Good Terms and Friends
Chain Reaction - Anaheim, CA | May 31, 2025
What more could you ask for? Saturday night at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim? Well…the lineup delivered more than anyone could’ve expected. Open to close, the show was a whirlwind of heart, hooks, and genuine love for the music.
BoyHero kicked things off with high energy and sharp melodies. His performance was tight and passionate—an impressive (and unexpected) opener that really surprised me.
Next up, Good Terms. And they stole the night. Their chemistry on stage was undeniable, blending raw emotion with polished musicianship. The crowd responded instantly, with singalongs, circle pits, fist pumps, “Hell yeah, brother!” chants, and a room that felt like one big community. I have to say, it’s not hard for me to make the comparison to early Fall Out Boy days when it comes to stage presence, energy, and just a pure love for the music they are playing. By the end of their set, it was clear: the crowd did not want the GT boys to unplug.
Sad Park kept the momentum rolling, delivering a dynamic and emotionally-charged set. Their ability to shift from melancholic tones to explosive choruses gave the night a refreshing emotional depth and a welcome contrast.
The evening closed with Youth Fountain, but this wasn’t just any headlining set. With the fellas from Good Terms backing Taylor Zanon, the songs took on a new energy - louder, fuller, and with a contagious energy that matched the room’s fever pitch (and the Good Terms prior set). It was a surprise collaboration (to me) that turned out to be the perfect finale, merging two fan bases into one unified force of support, enthusiasm, and love for the music.
From start to finish, this show was a celebration of passion, friendship, and the punk/emo spirit that Chain Reaction has championed for decades. Every band brought something special, and the unexpected collaboration at the end was the kind of surprise that reminds you why we show up for live music in the first place.
