L.S. Dunes bring the Like Magick Tour to Detroit
Rock supergroup L.S. Dunes (featuring members of Circa Survive, My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, and Thursday) brought their first US tour of 2025 to Detroit’s Shelter, with a dynamic lineup that transitioned from the shadowy depths of post-punk to soaring indie rock before closing with pure, high-energy catharsis.
Opening the show was Philadelphia’s Night Sins who delivered their final set of the tour, fully embracing their darkwave and post-punk roots. Their seven-song set built an immersive, brooding atmosphere, warming up the crowd while maintaining a heavy emotional undertone. “To London or the Lake," their most-played track, stood out as a moment of deep resonance. Knowing it was their last night supporting L.S. Dunes, the band seemed to perform with an extra sense of urgency—like leaving behind a final, lingering echo before moving on.
From Indian Lakes followed with an effortlessly smooth set, bridging the gap between Night Sins' moody aesthetics and L.S. Dunes’ energy. Their 11-song set kicked off with “Water” from Head Void, and their crisp, clean vocals carried emotional weight while maintaining clarity. The crowd was engaged throughout the set, with many singing along.
Closing out the night, L.S. Dunes powered through a massive 15-song set, with eight tracks coming from their latest album, Violet. The energy between the members was effortless—frontman Anthony Green’s vocals carried each song with raw emotion, seamlessly locking in with guitarists Frank Iero and Travis Stever’s sharp, dynamic guitar work. Bassist Tim Payne and drummer Tucker Rule held down the foundation, keeping the momentum steady and driving. The setlist struck a perfect balance between fan favorites from their debut Past Lives and fresh material from Violet, keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish. The energy peaked as “Machines” began, sending the crowd into a frenzy of movement and crowd surfing—with Green actively helping surfers down at the front and leaning into the audience himself. Their two-song encore finished off the night with leaving the crowd exhausted yet craving even more.
L.S. Dunes’ Like Magick Tour continues through the second week of May, ending in Phoenix—tickets can be found here.
