Chevelle brought their latest tour to Sterling Heights on August 19, supporting their new album Bright As Blasphemy. The tour covers 39 cities and seven festival appearances, making it one of the band’s longest tours in recent years. Joining them on the road are Asking Alexandria and Dead Poet Society, rounding out a hard-hitting lineup that made for an unforgettable night of music.
Opening the evening was Dead Poet Society, who immediately set the tone with “.intoodeep.,” one of their most popular tracks and a clear favorite among the crowd. Their set struck a balance between heavy grooves and atmospheric hooks, and the audience stayed engaged as the band tore through songs like “Running in Circles” before closing with “Hurt.”
Asking Alexandria took the stage next, exploding into their set with “Things Could Be Different.” The band wasted no time firing up the energy, as vocalist Danny Worsnop’s commanding presence paired with relentless movement from the rest of the group. They had the crowd constantly moshing, jumping, and sending a steady stream of crowd surfers toward the barricade throughout their set—nearly everyone in the venue was moving by the time Asking Alexandria began playing “Into the Fire.”
When Chevelle finally emerged you could feel the anticipation in the air. They kicked things off with “Family System,” a throwback to their 2002 breakthrough Wonder What’s Next, and instantly had the audience locked in. The setlist stretched across their career, blending older fan favorites with newer material, each song increasing the intensity. Pete Loeffler’s brooding vocals cut through the mix perfectly, while the band’s trademark heavy riffs kept the energy up throughout the performance.
The highlight came when the unmistakable opening notes of “The Red” rang out, prompting one of the loudest singalongs of the night as nearly every audience member’s voice joined in. Chevelle powered through the rest of their set without losing momentum, closing with “Mars Simula” from their latest record. Chevelle left Sterling Heights buzzing, a testament to their staying power and the connection they continue to share with their fans.
