ERRA and Currents’ co-headlining Silence Follows tour is over halfway through now, and if you’re able to attend one of the remaining stops, do not miss this one!
Aviana came all the way from Sweden to start the show off right each night. It was not my first time seeing Aviana so I knew what I'd be missing if I wasn't there. As the band walked out, the masked drummer and guitarists immediately commanded the room's attention. Every member brought incredible energy to the stage, while frontman Joel Holmqvist delivered a truly powerful vocal performance.
Caskets opened their set with "Make Me a Martyr," and the momentum only built from there. While following Aviana is a tall order, this being my first time seeing them, I was blown away by how perfectly they fit the bill and how great they sounded live. The crowd surfing kicked off during their second song, "Lost in Violence," and didn't let up until the final note. Between the sea of fans overhead and the constant smiles from the band, it was clear they were having just as much fun as the crowd.
Building on the momentum of the previous bands, ERRA came out swinging with "Gore of Being" from their newest album, "silence outlives the earth." By blending fresh material with older fan favorites, they proved exactly how to keep a crowd wanting more. Beyond the music, the band brought a massive production featuring a fantastic light show and a shifting LED backdrop; the visuals perfectly illuminated the members, creating a sense of dramatic, emotional lighting. Closing out their 14-song set with the absolute favorite "Snowblood," they ensured the energy stayed at a peak for the night's headliner.
The intermission music faded, the lights cut, and the room erupted as Currents took the stage. They were met with a wall of sound that only intensified when they launched into "So Alone." Without slowing down for a second, they ripped through a set fueled by a constant stream of crowd surfers that kept security on their toes.
Hearing "Unfamiliar" live truly highlights what a monster guitarist Chris Wiseman is, while Brian Wille’s vocals demonstrate the incredible range the band is capable of. Over a massive 15-song set, they left no fan favorite unplayed, seamlessly weaving in tracks from their recently released 5-song EP, All That Follows. To end the night, they closed out with "Rise and Fall" off the new EP, making sure the energy stayed up until the very last note.
