The air inside Seattle’s Paramount Theatre was electric last Friday as a sold-out crowd gathered for the Tanzneid World Tour. The night was billed as a collision of genres, offering a diverse lineup that ensured there was something for everyone. Opening the festivities was Scene Queen, who kicked things off with her signature "Bimbocore" style. Her performance of tracks like "Barbie & Ken" and "Pink Rover" provided a fun, heavy, and high-energy introduction that perfectly primed the audience. This was followed by the Australian metalcore powerhouse Polaris. Known for their intricate songwriting and catchy riffs, they delivered a stellar career-spanning set. From the heavy hits of The Mortal Coil to their latest work on Fatalism, Polaris kept the energy surging and set the stage perfectly for the headliners.
When Electric Callboy finally took the stage, the atmosphere shifted from excitement to pure euphoria. Behind them, a massive banner heralded their upcoming album, Tanzneid, due this August. They wasted no time, launching straight into the title track before surprising the crowd with a high-octane cover of Sum 41’s "Still Waiting." The momentum reached a fever pitch during the third song, "Tekkno Train," as confetti cannons exploded over the crowd, timed perfectly to the heavy chugging of the riffs. Between the costume changes, a mid-set DJ performance, and fun covers, the band demonstrated an incredible level of engagement, making the massive theater feel like an intimate, sweaty club.
By the time the night reached its conclusion, it was clear why Electric Callboy has become such a global powerhouse. They closed the set with their viral hit "We Got the Moves," which sent the floor into a final, revitalized frenzy of dancing and singing. The mix of humor, heavy breakdowns, and genuine showmanship made for a setlist that felt both diverse and cohesive. Walking out into the cool Seattle night, the lingering buzz from the crowd confirmed that this wasn't just a concert, but a full-scale celebration of heavy music. If you have the chance to catch the rest of the Tanzneid tour, do not miss the train.
